Frequently Asked Questions

What is bariatric surgery?
Bariatric surgery is a group of procedures aimed at weight loss for patients who have been unsuccessful in achieving results through dieting, exercise, and other means. Weight loss is reached through a modification of the gastrointestinal tract which leads to reduced food absorption. This does not include fat-removal surgeries such as liposuction.

What is the recovery like?
Recovery is unique to each patients situation. Because laproscopic techniques are minimally invasive, pain is typically minimal. A liquid diet is necessary for the immediate time post-procedure, although a return to a regular diet will take place with time. This timeline will vary depending on each patient. For more information on recovery, please contact one of our medical specialists.

Our patients can usually return to work and a normal routine 15 days after surgery. If your job includes physical labor it may take longer before you will be able to perform certain functions. This may also vary depending on a patients recovery speed.
